Premium Care Carpet Spotter

Tips/Home Remedies

Carpet cleaning is our obsession. Let's face it, a clean carpet feels better under bare feet and look exquisite!

Quality carpet that is well maintained should last 10-15 years. Proper cleaning will keep it looking great for its full lifetime, help improve your indoor air quality and help you adhere to your carpet warranties.

Here are some tips for keeping your carpets looking their best:

  • Vacuum your carpet once a week for every person in your home, including pets. For example: Mom, Dad, Son, Dog, Cat = 5 times a week for optimal vacuuming.
  • Always blot (or pat) a spill, never rub back and forth or in a circle. This can spread the spill to the surrounding carpet fibers.
  • Always use a pH-balanced carpet spotter. The majority of over the counter spotters are too strong, or use heavy detergents and/or bleach derivatives. These can lead to setting the stain, removing the color or even disintegrate the fiber itself. We offer a pH-balanced spotter that can be used on carpet fibers, upholstery and even a pre-treat on laundry!
  • Never use heavy detergents or soap. These can leave a sticky residue that, if not rinsed properly, can attract and hold dirt and soil.
  • If your spill is too large or is a substance you are hesitant to attempt yourself, cover it with a damp towel until you can give us a call. This will prevent the spill from drying, and increase the chances of removing with spill without permanent soiling.
  • Keep you vacuum bag no more than 1/3 full for best results. We recommend bagless HEPA filters.
  • Avoid using Powdered deodorizing products that are sprinkled on carpet and vacuumed afterwards, as they can leave residues that can attract soil and lead to rapid re-soiling. If needed, put powder directly into the vacuum bag to achieve the same results without harming your carpet. Keep in mind this powder on your vacuum will degrade suction power and bag should be replaced after each use.

  • Vacuum your upholstery periodically to remove dust, dander and surface soil. Also reverse any loose cushions to evenly distribute wear.

  • Rearrange your furniture to prevent heavy traffic patterns from forming in areas such as in front of chairs or sofas, or pivot points.

    But most importantly...

  • Protect your investments! Dirt is very abrasive, scratching carpet fibers and delicate upholstery fabrics. Always have DuPont Teflon Protector applied to your carpet and upholstery. This Protection not only acts as a barrier against soil abrasion, but it also causes spills to "bead" rather than penetrate deep inside the padding or backing. This gives you extra time to wipe/blot the excess.
